The National Council for Scientific and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia grants the status of the Centre of Excellence ​​- Centre of Excellence ​​for Innovations in Breeding of Climate-Resilient Crops in September 2021.

The research at the Centre is aimed at creating new genotypes of field plant species tolerant to stress caused by climate change. The new approaches and solutions developed at the Centre will serve as a model for developing similar approaches to other cultivated plant species, as well as production systems that are or are expected to be affected by climate change. The activities of the Centre covers several areas:

1. Exploiting existing and creating new genetic variability
2. Creating superior genotypes
3. Transfer and implementation technologies and knowledge
