Small Grains Department
About
The main activity of the Small Grains Department includes the breeding of small grains – the development and improvement of the assortment intended for the domestic and international markets. Breeding is carried out on the following plant species and subspecies of small grains: bread wheat, durum wheat, spelt, triticale, barley, rye and oats; seed production – production, maintenance and processing of varietal seeds of small grains intended for the domestic and international market; protection of small grains – phytopathological, nematological and entomological research in the function of breeding and production of small grains for resistance to diseases and pests; analysis of the technological quality of small grains – conducted at farinological laboratory; small grain cultivation technology – improvement of small grain production technology in order to maximize the use of the genetic potential of varieties for grain yield and quality.

Prof. Dr. Radivoje Jevtić, Principal Research Fellow, National Institute of the Republic of Serbia
Prof. Dr. Radivoje M. Jevtić (1959, Crnča, Ljubovija), Principal Research Fellow for scientific field Biotechnical Sciences. His employment at the Institute started in 1988 as an assistant in scientific activities. He received his master’s degree in 1990 and doctoral dissertation in 1993. He acquired his title Research Associate in 1994, Senior Research Associate in 1999 and Principal Research Fellow in 2005. He co-authored 57 cultivars of wheat and barley released in Serbia and 9 cultivars of wheat released abroad. He authored and co-authored 456 scientific papers. In the period 2006–2008 he was appointed head of Plant Protection Department, and in April 2016 head of Small Grains Department.
