We are pleased to announce that Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops Novi Sad, Serbia will be hosting a course Advancements in plant breeding, trial design and analysis in cooperation with UC Davis Plant Breeding Academy. The course will be held in Novi Sad on September 27-29, 2016.
The course is aimed at professionals who are involved in plant breeding and germplasm improvement. It is an opportunity for breeders to expand their knowledge on new strategies and technologies that are applied in breeding programs, as well as R software and its use in plant breeding.
The course that will be held in English covers the basics of R software and its use in plant breeding, different strategies used in plant breeding, as well as seed production and intellectual property protection. Course instructors include: Radisa Gjuric, UC Davis; Mirjana Jankulovska, FASF, Skopje; Domagoj Šimić, AIO, Croatia; Yalcin Kaya, TUHM, Turkey, as well as experts from IFVCNS.
Course goal: This course develops the skills and abilities of current industry personnel to enable them to enhance their breeding strategies, and become more valuable contributors to larger breeding programs. Persons who have a background in biological or plant sciences who wish to become plant breeders would also benefit from this course.
Who should attend? The course is targeted toward personnel currently involved in plant breeding programs who would like to broaden their expertise.
What is required to successfully complete the course? Participants will be expected to bring their laptops and pre-install R software.
Is there a certificate awarded at completion of the course? Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.

Application and Admission: Applicants should complete the online form. To provide a personalized learning environment, the program is limited to 30 participants. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science degree (or demonstrate equivalent professional experience) and have experience in plant breeding. Acceptance of applicants meeting the program requirements will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Application Deadline: 31 August 2016
Registration fee: Registration fee is 300 EUR per participant. It includes all course materials, lunches and coffee breaks during the course. Travel, accommodation, and other expenses during the course are not included.
