In a significant advancement for agricultural research, members of the Centre, Dr. Bo\u0161ko Dedi\u0107<\/a> and Dr. Aleksandra Radanovi\u0107<\/a> have embarked on a short-term scientific mission at the Research Centre J\u00fclich, Institute of Bio- and Geosciences (IBG-2): Plant Science (Forschungszentrum J\u00fclich)<\/a>, as part of the Horizon Europe project CROPINNO<\/a> (Project No. 101059546). Their stay (from April 1 to April 27, 2024), focused on the phenotypic characterization of inbred sunflower lines.<\/p>\n

During their time at the research centre, the team executed two key experiments aimed at understanding the growth responses of sunflower plants under varying water conditions, as well as plants’ ability to recover from drought conditions, providing valuable insights into their growth dynamics under stress.<\/p>\n

Since the Research Centre J\u00fclich uses state-of-the art phenotyping methods, Dr. Dedi\u0107 and Dr. Radanovi\u0107 had the opportunity to contribute significantly to the understanding of sunflower genetics and their adaptability to environmental stressors, paving the way for improved agricultural practices in the future.<\/p>\n

The findings from these experiments are expected to enhance the phenotyping processes within the Climate Crops Centre and at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops.<\/p>\n
