We are happy to announce the start of a Horizon Europe project: „Utilization of Marginal lands for growing sustainable industrial crops and developing innovative bio-based products – MIDAS” in which Climate Crops researchers will actively contribute. In the next 4 years, MIDAS will bring together 25 partners from research institutions, industries and SMEs from 13 European countries.

The project aims to develop, evaluate and optimize sustainable low-ILUC (indirect land use change) feedstock by developing industrial crops and cropping systems on European marginal agricultural land in a climate-resilient and biodiversity-friendly way to support feasible bio-based value chains. The official launch has begun with kick-off meeting in Athens last week in the excellent organization of the project coordinator Centre for renewable energy sources and saving – CRES. Two members of Climate Crops Centre participated in the meeting.
